SUPER TONIC

A potent blend of the world's best cold-fighting ingredients. It's similar to the popular fire cider recipe or master tonic recipe, but it's very unique. Why? It contains manuka honey, which makes the remedy more palatable and also has cold-fighting properties!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups garlic - chopped

  • 2 cups onion - chopped

  • 2 cups fresh ginger - grated or chopped

  • 2 cups fresh horseradish root - grated

  • 2 cups hot peppers - (cayenne, habanero, Serrano, jalapeño, etc.) chopped

  • 1/2 Cup Manuka honey

  • 1 gallon apple cider vinegar

Equipment

  • Strainer

  • Mason jars

  • Gloves

  • Cheese grater

  • Cutting Board

  • Knife

  • Large mixing bowl

  • Cheesecloth

  • Plate

  • Funnel

  • 1 Gallon glass jar

  • 18, 8-oz bottles (optional)

1. Prepare all of your ingredients (chop, grate, etc.) and combine in a mixing bowl. Fill a sterile mason jar about ¾ full with equal parts of the chopped and grated ingredients. I use one big gallon glass jar, or you can use smaller quart-sized mason jars.

2. Fill your jar(s) to the top with your raw apple cider vinegar. Make sure the ingredients are completely covered by the apple cider vinegar. Close the jar(s) and shake vigorously to mix everything together.

Store the jar(s) in a dark place and be sure to shake them once a day for at least 2 weeks. I prefer to cover the gallon jar with a large paper bag and keep it sitting on my kitchen counter, so I remember to shake it at least once a day. When your tonic has sat for a minimum of 2 weeks try to let it go 4 – 6 weeks if you can.

Preparing the tonic

1. Place a colander over a bowl and line the colander with cheesecloth. Start spooning the mixture into the colander and use a plate to press the moisture out of the mixture into the bowl.

You can wrap the cheesecloth around the remaining mixture to squeeze the rest of the moisture out of it. The pulp should be as dry as possible. Please wear gloves because of the hot peppers.

The Super Tonic liquid should be free from pulp before pouring into bottles.

2. Pour the liquid through a funnel into amber bottles (I used 8 oz bottles, but you can use any size you like). I put a secondary filter in the funnel to make sure I didn’t miss any chunks. I ended up with enough super tonic for 18, 8-oz bottles, for me and my family and some to sell.

Doses

For daily immune support, drink 1-2 ounces, two or more times each day. Just put it in your mouth, swish around, gargle and swallow. Don’t dilute it with water or the effect won’t be as powerful.

If you’re fighting something, take the tonic 5-6 times per day. In most cases, it may be used during pregnancy and it’s safe for children (use smaller doses) since food is non-toxic (unless you have an allergy, of course). Please check with your doctor to confirm it’s okay for you.

You can make a huge batch each time since it doesn’t need refrigeration and it will typically last indefinitely without any special storage conditions.
